Hello World!*
CONNECTING ORGANISING EDUCATING CREATING
I first worked in IT at the RSPB headquarters, then in Cambridge with CAD companies including Shape Data which was owned by McDonnell Douglas, then various short term contracts with banks and large institutions such as Barings Bank, Barclays Stockbrokers, HP and Nokia. I also ran an automotive business, (mainly doing the marketing/customer relations), and I have always made things – mostly sewing, but also crochet.
I currently run creative workshops: for beginners and as community engagement events.
I host websites and can train you to build your own, helping you achieve what you need online. (I offer discounted rates for arts and heritage organisations)
While I originally felt I was unusual in my two careers as an IT consultant and working in the creative industry, I recently found this:
connecting knitting and programming
I was a “Changemaker” as part of an RSA program in Peterborough:
These individuals are defined as those who are highly effective in tackling the social, economic and environmental challenges facing society, and who are driving and achieving positive change within their own fields of interest and work
I was part of the trailblazer group looking at new apprenticeships, click here
* “Hello World!” is the first program people used to write – how to get the computer to say “Hello World!” upon certain keys being pressed or in answer to a query. It’s one of those quirky things that I love about the IT that I know (behind the scenes, non-microsoft). This kind of IT is now coming into public awareness with the Raspberry Pi.
