BA (Open) (Classical Studies with History of Science and Technology)
Past work:
working in IT for over 20 years in a number of system building and system administration roles using server-based technologies, now internet-based. Various consultancy roles for companies such as Hewlett Packard and Nokia, in London, Reading and Cambridge. More recently, creation, hosting and maintenance of websites; including social media. Training offered in social media and website creation.
Also, in between consultancy contracts, 18 years with family company, managing the Marketing and PR side, negotiating sponsorship, advertising; creating membership schemes and other ways to promote the company accurately and to attract new custom. Much of this was of course done before the internet became as popular as it is now, so experience is in traditional media as much as new media.
Professional development programs offered to assist craftspeople with the business and PR side of their work, so they can concentrate on their artistic offering, having set up online and networking programs to showcase their work and sell on their own terms.
Running Digital, Creative and Heritage projects within the community to support and promote the cultural assets of Wisbech. eg www.WisbechArtSpace.com an Arts Council funded virtual arts trail online and in Minecraft.
Felting, crochet and sewing taught to community groups as therapeutic activities and creating links between communities
